This man is a human dynamo- good read

Edward Michael Grylls is his real name. This is a well written book, although I am not sure if Bear actually penned it or it was ghost written. Only he could tell you that and he has written quite a few books.

The work covers his childhood in England and also goes right back a few generations in his geneaology. He tells of always being dynamic and paints a rosy picture as far as his doting parents are concerned. He was always close to both his parents but got up to all sorts of adventures with his Dad while his mum was more a homebody.

Unusually he tells of being highly religious, a Christian in fact. He is also the head of the scouts. The book goes into minute detail when Bear joins the army and eventually the SAS reserve. This is while studying at university.

Once leaving the SAS because of a serious back injury he goes headlong into a mission to conquer Mount Everest. It is detailed compelling reading and eventually Bear succeeds in his goal.

The book covers his girlfriend, and now wife, and how they met, and he talks about his love for his children. Curiously or shrewdly the book does not cover the immensely popular television series Man vss. Wild. This obviously has been held over for another book. You should know that the series is shown all over the world. It has 1.2 billion viewers. Grylls is a multi millionaire and lives on an English island with his family which he purchased.

All in all this is a good read, it is interesting and exciting adventure at tis best and was hard to put down.

I'm currently reading the book. It is the "part" of the reason why I could get up at dawn this morning to do 15kms of cycling.....if Bear can join the SAS and complete the type of training he did with swollen feet and lack of sleep...Then a little cycle ride is nothing!
